Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB) has said that it will continue to accord priorities to the needs of teachers, describing them as been central to achieving overall development, and ensuring quality education for all.
The Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Professor Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, in his message on World Teachers' Day also said that education is the only indice for measuring the advancement of any given nation.
Every October 5 is a special day dedicated, all over the world, to celebrate teachers and advocate on issues directly affecting the teaching profession. The day is celebrated to highlight the key responsibilities, rights and value of teachers, along with considering issues related to teachers and teaching.
This year the theme of World Teachers’ Day is ‘Teachers at the Heart of Education Recovery.’ This theme recognises teachers for their tireless efforts even during times like Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns.
Due to their hardworking nature, teachers are known to help young children grow and learn, even in shaping the future generation.
Professor Adaramaja said that the recently organized Education Summit, recruitment of 2701 (SUBEB) teachers, capacity building for different categories of SUBEB teachers, distribution of instructional materials to schools, approval of 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020 promotion exercises for teachers by His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and other measures put in place by the state government was in realization of the importance of teachers in nation building, even as he commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his commitment.
Professor Adaramaja wished the teachers happy Teachers' Day celebration, even as he charged them to continue to show more commitment and dedication to duty.
